Each year, many events are held at The North Star House
- Public events put on by North Star Historic Conservancy (NSHC)
- Public events co-hosted by NSHC and other organizations
- Public events put on by other organizations at the North Star House
- Private events including parties, weddings, etc.
2019 and early 2020 North Star Speaker Series:
- “No Place for a Woman: The Fight for Woman Suffrage”. This enlightening and very entertaining presentation was given by local author and comedienne Chris Enss.
- “Civil Rights & Copperheads: The Fight for the 15th Amendment”. Local historian and author Linda Jack marked the 150th anniversary of the passage of the Civil War “right to vote” amendment.
- “Back to the Future” brought back Betty Marvin in the personna of Julia Morgan, renowned architect and designer of the North Star House.
On June 23, 2019, we had the Grand Opening of our new Heritage Garden, which pays tribute to the horticultural skills of Arthur De Wint Foote. We also enjoyed beer tasting and music on the terrace and front lawn.
Each year we co-host two fun events at The House. These had to be cancelled in April 2020 due to Covid-19, but we hope to welcome them back again in 2021.
- The Magic Show, put on by the Nevada County Magician’s Guild. The audience rotates through 3 rooms of the House as 3 simultaneous, entertaining shows are put on. Fun for all ages.
- The Annual Clear Creek Wine, Chocolate and Cheese Celebration features local wine, cheese and chocolate, to benefit the Clear Creek scholarship fund.
The Center for the Arts brings wonderful outdoor concerts to the grounds of The North Star House.
