Gertrude Jekyll 1843-1932
“Gertrude Jekyll was a British horticulturist and garden designer. She created some 400 gardens in the UK, Europe, and America. Her garden design was influenced by Arts and Crafts principles, and she felt that a sympathetic relationship between house and surroundings was vital; that each individual plant should be studied for culture, habit, foliage, and color to achieve a practical, beautiful, and appropriate effect and that the garden should reveal unexpected views and pictorial surprises.” GertrudeJekyll.co.uk
